A van load of us headed north for a look around. First across a causeway onto Lindisfarne /Holy Island to see Lindisfarne Castle - just a newby, only 16th century. Also the ruins of a priory.
Then down the road 20min to Bamburgh Castle, wouldn't want to try and attack that one, could do with a moat though.
Lots of history here. In NZ we don't have any buildings older than 1820ish.
