You may or may not be interested to know that the Canary Islands are not named from the canary bird that is native to this set of islands, but is from the word 'canarias', latin for 'of the dog' due to the number of ferocious wild dogs that were encountered by settlers in days of old.

The ship has called here for an underwater hull inspection, and more fuel and water.

Got a day to go explore so some of us hired a car and drove about the island.
